Partner-Assisted Communication

Talk To Me 100 uses a partner-assisted communication strategy. A communication partner (parent, therapist, teacher) works alongside the user, guiding them to press buttons that correspond to word locations on the overlay.

Individual words or word sequences are used to express needs, desires, and thoughts — building toward independent communication over time.

Your Role as a Communication Partner

As your child's partner and guide, you will use these tools to enhance the learning process. Your role is central: Initiate conversation, repeat words spoken or pointed to by your child, respond to all attempts to communicate, either by pointing to a symbol and saying the corresponding word or imitating what you see and hear. Be consistent, practice daily. Soon your child will realize words don't simply fly aimlessly through the air. Words have power.

Research consistently shows that augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices do not inhibit the development of natural speech. In fact, studies demonstrate that device usage increases motivation and confidence, often sparking greater verbal expression over time.

Talk To Me 100's multi-sensory approach — combining motor planning, tactile feedback, visual symbols, and auditory output — promotes faster language acquisition and deeper communication skills.
